It is not just you

On a  blog, one author shared one of his experiences as a corporate pilot and a flight instructor. He revealed how he loved talking with his passengers. He loved the conversations and the relationship he has with them. He was always asked about his knowledge about flying. Just like with a lot of other pilots, he was obsessed with anything about airplanes. He loved drawing and building them.

His father took flight lessons during his time, which paved the way for Paul’s huge interest in them. He recalled how he browsed through his father’s manuals and was amazed with a certain model.

He tried to follow the footsteps of his father, and convince his parents to let him take flying lessons, too. However, his parents thought that it would be too expensive. When he was in college, Paul was, like most freshmen, undecided as to what course he wanted to take. Of course, he was interested in aviation only, but it wasn’t offered in his school. He, however, did not want to be too problematic about his future.

During his spring break in his freshman year, he embarked on a trip to Ecuador. Together with a bunch of high school students, they traveled to the Amazon rainforest.

Therefore, he pressed on towards his dream, and pursued flight lessons. He was even more encouraged when he found that there are a lot of career options to choose from when you become a pilot. Things only got better when his grandparents hopped into his wagon.

In a school in Florida, he successfully got his private, instrumental, and multi- engine commercial certificates. Paul went back home, and decided to become a flight instructor. He got his certificate in that, too. Now that he got his dream fulfilled, he went on to college and got a Communications degree. To date, Paul is out of the aviation league. When he was in college, he met his future wife, and they got married eventually. However, that does not mean that Paul is completely turning his back on flying a plane. He is trying to keep his opportunities open. He is still young, anyway. For the mean time, he is fueling other aspirants’ dream to become a pilot, too, someday.

I found this while looking around the other day and thought it was a great story.  But it does miss a rather large point, flying in more than just a career it is a lifestyle.  The demands the job places on people and the way the fellow community acts makes it more than just a job.  Because of this if you really want to become a professional pilot you should…need to go for it.  Don’t let things stand in your way.

There is help out there if you want, places like this blog where others just like you come for information on how to become a professional pilot. Go out and do it.  You will be surprised at how easy it really is when you love flying.

And here is a little secret, we have all been there.  Just about everyone who flies for a living knows that a one point or another they had to overcome the obstacle of the job being too much.  And everyone around them had the same problem.  It is one of the things that binds the group together.
